Al Gore pulls no punches

I always enjoy a good TED talk. I especially enjoy them when the presenter goes full tilt on expressing their beliefs - with no apologies.

Now. I don't know much about Al Gore. I know that he was a Democrat who ran for president of the USA about 20 years ago. I also know that many think he would have won clearly if he had shown a little more passion, a bit more 'humanity'.
I also remember his documentary - An Inconvenient Truth - was seen as a watershed moment in raising awareness about the climate change issue.
But I didn't expect such a full-frontal assault on the fossil fuel companies as I witnessed when I saw this latest TED talk from July 2023 in Detroit, Michigan.
In his 25-minute presentation, Gore goes straight to the heart of the problem. He doesn't waste time telling us what kind of apocalypse we should be expecting. He doesn't dance around the edges of nicety with bland statements about doing better.
No. He calls out the fossil fuels companies by name, exposing the lies and hypocrisy of their blatant green-washing, backed up by statistics, data, and quotes from their very own CEOs.
He points the finger directly at the conflict of interest inherent in COP28's UAE hosting this year, and the fact that the president for this round is also a CEO of one of the worst of the worst companies.
I mentioned these conflicts in my recent blog posts:
https://www.webproofcontent.com/post/the-fox-is-guarding-the-hens-at-cop28 and https://www.webproofcontent.com/post/is-cop28-a-waste-of-time
If you want to see a straight-shooter in action, this short speech is well worth 25 minutes of your time.
It also includes some recent findings about climate change recovery timetables that might even give you a tingle of optimism to end the video.
